DHCP Services and GS748Tv5
This is a very simple question. The GS748T which I have, is it capable of providing DHCP services? The manual to which I was linked does not seem to mention it. However, one of the reason this particular switch was recommended by some of my colleagues is that it can act as a DHCP server. Rummaging through the WEB interface (I'm using Linux and haven't taken the time to get the windows management software running) does not show enabling DHCP services. In fact, in the System -> Services tab, all that is listed in the "sub window" to the left is "DHCP Snooping" and "Dynamic ARP Inspection." Neither of these are DHCP services.
I've seen plenty in the literature (user manual) and the web site for using the switch in a network with and without a DHCP, but nothing about configuring the switch to be one. Can the GS748Tv5 be a DHCP Server?
Re: DHCP Services and GS748Tv5
As per the GS748Tv5 Data Sheet L2/L3 Services, there is no DHCP server or service.
You might give a try defining GS716Tv3, GS724Tv4, and GS748Tv5 Smart Switches p.72, DHCP Snooping - Binding Configuration some static entries (VLAN, MAC, IP). In my understanding this does not susbtitute a real DCHP server, but for once I would be happy to be wrong.
