GS108PEv3 as PD device ?

Hello, I purchased this switch some time ago and it came with an AC adapter.

I am now wondering if the device in itself can be powered via POE as a PD device, as I am short on electrical outlets.

Seems to be some conflicting information. A major online retailer which I bought it from (let's call them... Rainforest) seems to contain responses to customer questions which indicate this device can in itself be powered via a PoE connection. The supplied AC adapter which I received seems to be regarded as an optional extra.

Ignoring whatever Power requirements other PoE devices might require which are plugged into this switch, can the switch itself be operated as a powered PoE device without an external adapter.

Initial experimentations would say no, but there is mention of holding down reset button during power up to place it into AT mode.

Thanks, Michael.

Re: GS108PEv3 as PD device ?

The Smart Managed Plus GS108PEv3 needs a power supply to operate, it can't be powered as a PD, but it has four PoE ports with a PoE power budget of max 53 W.

The confusion is probably coming from the Smart Managed Pro GS108Tv2 switch model. Here the power supply is optional, and the switch can be powered as PD from a PoE switch. There are no PoE ports beyond of the PD port. FMI: https://www.netgear.com/business/products/switches/smart/GS108Tv2.aspx#tab-techspecs
