How to access Netgear GS748TP

Hi

I recently took over the management of an IT infrastruture and I am in the process of accessing devices with little access information.

We have a Netgear GS748TP switch which is live on the network and I don't have an IP address for it to manage it. I have the MAC address. The switch is connected to a core HP switch via a trunk configuration over fibre cable.

All the other switches in our network are either HP or 3com. What is the best way to try and discover the IP address of the switch so that I can access it? I don't want to reset it as it will bring down a section of our network.

Thankyou for any assistance on this as I'm struggling to find a way

Hi @jsam2020 ,

Welcome to community !

For GS748TP the default management ip address was 192.168.0.239, you can use this ip address login switch by Gui( IE/Chorme broswer).

If your switch is configured with management ip address, you can install  "Smartwizard Discovery utilit" tool on the PC and discovery your switch ip address.

Download Smartwizar Utility

Notes:

The PC and switch need to be on the same subnet.
