Problem configuring shared internet access on VLANs between switch XS708t and Nighthawk R9000
I've been learning alot about VLANs, networking and routing these days, as I want to setup a segmented IOT network at home. But i have stumpled upon a hurdle I've spent the last days trying to overcome, and now turn to the community for some adult supervision and advice.
I have an R9000 router, connected to a XS708t switch with an SFP+ cable - I have done a lot of reading, and have setup VLANs and routing according to these to articles:
Both of which are very well written btw!
I have succeeded in setting up the VLANs, establishing inter-vlan communication and vlan-lan communication. (I can ping from a device connected to the router to devices on the VLANs, and vice-versa and all around). So as far as I understand, VLAN routing, and static routing is set up correctly on the router, otherwise above should not work?
I cannot however get any of the VLAN devices to get internet access. When i ping a internet server I get the server IP but no replies, so obviously the IP resolution part works but nothing is recieved from beyond my network on the VLANS. Having no previous experience I think the cause is found in the switch not routing the pings received from the router, back to the VLANS. Troubleshooting this, and understanding what I have done wrong is what I would like some adult advice on.
I hope someone can help, as I think I have done exactly what the articles above describe.
The setup is as follows:
Router IP 192.168.1.1
Since R9000 router is not VLAN aware all ports on switch are untagged.
VLAN 99 - Routing VLAN between switch and router. GW: 192.168.1.254.
VLAN 2 - IOT VLAN on ports 5+6. GW: 192.168.2.1
VLAN 3 - Data VLAN on ports 2+3. GW: 192.168.3.1
I have attached a picture which shows all the setups on the switch and router
(not sure if it shows in the text?)
