S3300 Device View Java Not Working!

Device: S3300-28X ProSAFE 24-Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switch with 4 10G uplinks

FW: 6.4.0.19

OS: Win 2012 R2

Device View is not working!

We've installed Java 7u51, and it's still not working. I'm guessing it's also to do with NPAPI Plugins that have been discontinued in modern browsers.

Netgear, what is the solution to this issue?

Do you have any workarounds?

Re: S3300 Device View Java Not Working!

After upgrading the firmware to ver 6.6.4.9, device view still did not work.

Logged in today, a number of weeks later, and device view started to work again.

Strange!

Please use search before posting. Answered and requested an update from Netgear several times already. Most of these switches are old, your's is available since about 2011 for example - but I'm aware some of them are still offered in the market. Newer switches come with the new Netgear Web UI no longer requiring any Java plugin for the device view.

Workaround for now (no, I won't promote running legacy systems/browsers/Java) is to forget the device view - it has very limited functionality anyway.

Hi Schumaku,

Internet Explorer and Chrome. I have not tried with Edge or FireFox.

And it's really a Java plugin? Should not be permitted ...

Re: S3300 Device View Not Working!

Answering myself - this is the new switch Web UI which does not make use of Java at all.

Re: S3300 Device View Not Working!

Looks like the same UI as usual.

Just got surprised that the device view was suddenly working in Chrome and IE again. I tested on only 2 PCs, and it was working.

After the FW upgrade it was not working at all but, this week it is working. I think it still is Java as it took some time to load - I haven't checked properly though.

No, these browsers don't allow the NPAPI to run Java applets anymore. A browser caching issue potentially?
