Windows 10 desktops ok, Windows 7 keep dropping prosafe s3300-52x

We have an issue where a selection of Windows 7 computers would lose connection and unplugging the network cable or a reboot is the only way to get things back up and running.I have checked the logs and the following is happening:

<14> Mar 13 10:40:15 10.0.1.1-1 General[emWeb]: main_login.c(223) 29463 %% HTTP Session 7 initiated for connection from 10.0.4.200
<14> Mar 13 10:40:15 10.0.1.1-1 CLI_WEB[emWeb]: emweb_common_custom.c(162) 29462 %% HTTP Session 7 started for user admin connected from 10.0.4.200
<13> Mar 13 10:39:44 10.0.1.1-1 TRAPMGR[trapTask]: traputil.c(721) 29461 %% Link Up: 1/g3
<13> Mar 13 10:39:41 10.0.1.1-1 TRAPMGR[trapTask]: traputil.c(721) 29459 %% Link Down: 1/g3

We have five sS3300-52x switches all brand new and all have been configured to stack using fiber on the 10gb ports. The first three switch installations were trouble free but as soon as we added the last two switches and connected the internet and the Scale virtual servers to the new stack strange things started to happen. So last night I moved the internet and virtual servers back into an old switch thats connected to the stack via one of the spare 1gb ports, that all worked before but im still having the same issue.

Its only affecting Windows 7 machines and Windows 10 machines are trouble free.

I just wondered if you have ever come across such strange circumstances?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Hi SteveFord,

Welcome to our community! 🙂

You may try updating the ethernet driver of the Windows 7 machines and check if that will work.

Many thanks for your reply.

We made sure all updates have been installed including bios but it didnt make any difference. Today is the first day we have been trouble free, which is great!  We were using the round-robin dns technique and i think there was a problem with cached dns. We rebooted the switches at lunch today and so far, and i dont want to jinx it.... so i cannot say, but its been a much better day!!!

@SteveFord,

That's great! Just in case the issue comes back, you can download the tech support file from the switch so that we can further check it. But if the other devices are working properly, then it is really isolated from the switch.
