Unreliable cold boot XS712T
I bought a used XS712T for about 200euro, and I have problems booting it up from cold.
The pattern I describe below has made itself apperant over many days of testing. Netgear do not honor their Lifetime Warranty due to it being bought from unaccredited seller and being 2nd hand.
If I change RJ45 cable positions, or make adjustments of settings inside the WeBinterrface, the switch fail to start from cold boot.
"Failed cold-boot" is defined by:
1. No RJ45 LEDs light up even for connected devices. Power LED on, FAN led off. Fans spin down after a minute.
2. No DHCP is assigned to the switch. No connection can be made to it using default IP 192.168.0.239.
3. Power LED on for ~80 secondes, turns off for ~three seconds, on for ~80.... Reset-loop?
Successful cold-boot is defined by:
1. RJ45-leds light up on attached devices.
2. DHCP is assigned and swtich can be connected to using either SmartControlCenter or Webinterface.
3. Power LED always on. Fans spin down.
When cold-boot fails, it may take 3-10 power cord pulls/reinsert to get the swtich to come back up, identfied by blinking LEDS.
Switch is in basement, so temp sensors, when accessable after successful boot, shows ~35 degrees c.
I always find these messages in the Webinterfafe after cold-boots. I have copied some of the messages that I think tries to convey something to me.

The question I have, if some of you have had similar experience, if it is fixable, and if buying 2nd hand Netgears is not recommeded?

Re: Unreliable cold boot XS712T
Welcome to our community! 🙂
We do apologize for the experience that you had with our switch. We do not recommend purchasing 2nd hand products because this will void the warranty of the switch. We are also not sure if the product that you purchased is already modified with a different firmware or not.
You may check our warranty policy here.
Regards,
John

Re: Unreliable cold boot XS712T
FYI I have bought used hardware from dell, hp and others, updated their firmwares and have had zero problems. This is the first used device I purchase that has been of subpar quality.
