Can not add users, can not update ms200

Installed my old MS200. It is previously unused. Am up and running BUT. Logging on I get a pop up telling me A software update is available.
Would you like to apply it now ?. I chose to update. The screen says applying update until the session times out. Tried 3 times over 2 days.

I try to add a user and get the error message, the server could not be reached to remove this account. Please try again in a few moments.

The only upside is that I can actually store data on it - nothing else seems to work.

Any ideas as to what might be the problem? I am using windows 7.

Have you considered resetting the Stora? If it is an option for you, you can check the link below for the steps.
