Make my ms2000 back fully working

Dear Netgear Support,

I'm a  happy owner of ms2000 from July 2011 and since that time the MS2000 stayed always on my lan with 192.168.0.5 ip address.

One day one device obtained this ip address and stora was re-addressed to another ip address, when I noticed it I have set back my dhcp to connect Stora at the usual ip address but since that time I'm unable to:

- access my stora from your mystora.com website,

I get error: "stora Offline"

- access my stora from my http://192.168.0.5 page,

I get error: "500 Internal server error"

tested with Firefox, FirefoxDeveloper, Chrome, Internet Explorer.

What did I do so far?

- reset router (Netgear) and reload last configuration working with my MS2000

- disconnect the device which forced the 192.168.0.5 address

- restarted several times my MS2000 stora

- run this http://support.netgear.hipserv.com/updates/selfcheck/index.html

but I am still unable to access from http to my stora although either router either router configuration are the same of when Stora was working.

Please, notice that either from Linux mint and Ubuntu either from Windows 7 and XP I am able to access my data through normal network at the address I have set as 192.168.0.5.

Your answer would be of crucial help, kindly recommend a post which may help me in recovering the Stora without losing data.

At disposal for any further detail you may need,

Greetings from Italy,

Michele

Hi @mcrs969,

You may refer to the link below for the steps on how to re-flash the firmware of the Stora and see if it is an option for you. I recommend backing up all the data of your hard drives first before doing any of the steps.

Re: Make my ms2000 back fully working

Hi @mcrs969,

1. Does the Stora show up on the list of attached devices on your router?

2. Have you tried performing address reservation for the Stora?

3. Do you have the Stora Agent utility installed? If yes, have you tried accessing the Stora through it?

Re: Make my ms2000 back fully working

Dear Dexter,

thank you for your reply.

my answers:

1) yes it is shown with ip 192,168.0.5

2) yes I have reserved 192.168.0.5 from my router linked to its MAC

3) yes, no way to access although I see it in my workgroup and I can access all the data with all 3 users I have.

I had taken printscreens but I'm unable to upload them in the forum.

Thanks & regards,

Michele

Re: Make my ms2000 back fully working

Hi @mcrs969,

This is a very unusual case since the Stora is accessible through other methods using different computers. Have you tried resetting your browsers? You may also try temporary disabling any security software.

Re: Make my ms2000 back fully working

Dear Dexter,

apologizes for delay in replying... I have actually tried with 5 different PCs and other different OSs and with all of them I have same behavior:

- able to access my folders and navigate my stora from ALL of them

- unable to access my stora through https://www.mystora.com/ from ALL of them

- interesting that after applying again this http://support.netgear.hipserv.com/updates/selfcheck/index.html procedure I got to:

  1. I log-in at https://www.mystora.com/
  2. the log in does not show anymore that stora is offline
  3. I am redirected to the ip address of my stora in my lan as follows (example: 192.168.0.5/?AUTH=51f78455254c90d19ae1189174caa761&)
  4. and then error displayed in this page is: "
    500 Internal Server Error

There was an error retrieving the page you requested. The error has been logged for the Administrators' reference."

so what I can understand (these are just my conclusions) is:

- my Stora is linked to your mystora.com service

- my log-in details are correct

- stora is connected and can be viewed through my LAN

but:

- my web stora interface is not working for some reason (corrupted?!) and even attempting the repair with http://support.netgear.hipserv.com/updates/selfcheck/index.html is not successfull.

...of course even trying to access the stora from 192.168.0.5 produces this:

"500 Internal Server Error

There was an error retrieving the page you requested. The error has been logged for the Administrators' reference."

What can I do?

thanks for your time and help,

Saluti,

Michele

Re: Make my ms2000 back fully working

Ciao @DexterJB,

after a bit long time I've to say to you that my STORA is back fully working, I know that in 2016 this may be a bit obsolete but I'm super happy to say that I have the simple GUI back again and that I can access again my STORA remotely, along with my latest buy (the D7000) which embeds the VPN I'll be able to stream again data even better when I'll be abroad for businness!

So thanks a lot!

Wish you happy Easter from Italy!

Michele
