A stora "reset to factory" doesn' format the harddrive. Have you tried to recreate the user accounts that you had before the reset, to see if your data re-appears in these accounts? It should.

Im not sure that i follow you, recreate the user accounts? after it formatted i could see my account but only default empty folders under familylibrary. And im still having problems too get any recovery software to see the hdd with my sata dockingstation connected to my pc, the recovery software doesnt recognize the filesystem. Under windows7 diskmanager i can see the hdd and 2 partions thats all.

It turns out the actual file format is NTFS of some unknown type. If you need to recover data, use "Stellar Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery."

yes the quote is from the same url, and i asked the guy in his post but i guess that after he fixed his problem that he isnt reading his post anymore.
to robyb: what is the steps to recreate the user accounts? and what happens exactly? i dont want to mess around with the hdd if i want to recover dat from it.

2. Insert the bootable DVD rom in your computer and shut down.
3. Remove the HD in your Stora drive and connect it to your PC.
4. Turn on your desktop computer and select boot from DVD/Cd
5. It will boot into a Linux OS. Once you are on the Linux OS you will see the Stora HD in XFS file system. Open it and you will see the folders of each user account.
I hope you did not format the Stora HD in the preference option
