ntv300 stuck in quick setup
Netgear is aware of the problem with the NeoTV NTV300, but they indicated that they may or may not do anything about it. For those unaware, if you have an outdated firmware on the NeoTV 2, it is useless. It will not allow you past that point, stating it can't reach the server, try again later. So new setups on a NeoTV 2 are stuck in quick setup for eternity. (Or until Netgear decides it'll help.) I understand the device is old and out of production, but many devices are functional LONG after production. Not Netgear apparently. So, if that is the level of reliability a Netgear product has, why should any of us ever purchase another Netgear product? They recommended purchasing a newer Netgear product as a solution to one persons having trouble on here, but why would I purchase another Netgear? Wouldn't I feel safer buying another product? A Roku 2 can be had for around $50, and I know that will work. And, as for networking, am I sure that will continue to function? Linksys produces many fine products. I used to endorse and seek out Netgear products to purchase, but, if I can't count on the product, how can I any longer? Why should any of us? So, if Netgear doesn't address the issue, I suggest all of us having the same problem spread the word to not purchase Netgear products. I'll be doing so to all I know in person (I'm everyone's tech support in my life.), and through Facebook and Twitter.
