Older TV

I have an older TV (Samsung from 2010) It is wi-fi compatble but it is not a SMART TV (no processor, no CD ROM drive, etc.) What USB network adapter can I use to connect this set to my home network?

You'd have to check with samsung on whats compatible with their tv's.

You might be better to invest in something like a roku/fire device instead of trying to add wifi to the tv. This time of year the firesticks/roku sticks are around that $20-30

Then you'd have wifi and smart capability with your streaming device. Probably a better investment.

What does that mean? What can the TV do with its wifi connection?

You cannot use a USB device like that to make your TV wifi capable.

The TV's USB is for storage, things like music and films.

As plemans suggests, some TV makers have their own specialist, and probably expensive, widgets to add wifi. But you have that already.

If your TV has a wired LAN input, then a good option is to use Powerline Ethernet.

I use that. It is easier to set up, faster, and more reliable than wifi. But, again as plemans says, if you want to add new features to your TV, then you will need something like a Firestick. These can use the existing wifi on your TV, but here too I went the next step and bought the LAN adapter for a Firestick and use that with Ethernet. I dislike wifi connections for things that don't move around the house.
