24 or 32 port gigabit network switch for home office

Greetings

I'm looking for a network switch that is secure, fast & reliable, doesn't require a PhD to operate it, is capable of handling up to 15 devices + streaming HiRes security and monitored live CCTV, a game server or two

There are 26 cat6a installed at the two storey premises - will still require WiFi access

I have 2.5 GB fibre data link to the premises - I'm in Australia

I was told to get a Sisco but apparently in Australia you require licence - or so my techie tells me

Any recommendations please?

Greetings to Downunder from old mainland Europe and the heart Switzerland!

A little bit vague when it comes to the WiFi side of things. Decent WiFi infrastructure does run on 2.5 GbE or even 10 GbE PoE++ ports to get sufficient bandwidth to modern wireless clients.

Said that, a possible proposal could be one or two Negear MS324TXUP (in case 2.5 GbE is really sufficient), with Netgear https://www.netgear.com/ch-de/business/wifi/access-points/ like the WBE710 (71x is just a different license bundle) or a combination with these plus some Netgear MS510TXUP for allowing MultiGig of up to 10 Gb to the wireless access points like the Netgear WBE750 (here again, WBE75x are just including longer valid license bundles).

Everything could be easily managed from Netgear Insight (App or Web portal)

This would be an extreme unlikely fiber infrstructure switch installation. Faster switches come typically with SFP or SFP+ ports where 10 Gb fiber link speeds re feasible.

Or are ou talking about multiple primses connected over some carrier or ISP network where (why ever) the link speed is limited to 2.5 Gb.

Appears your techie was talking about Cisco Enterprise class switches where you need a support contrct to get even cess to regulr firmwre updates, including security.. Netgear is offering Fully Managed and AV switches that specific switch class with limited life time warranty and free support.
