I inhereted an IT office with a JGS516v1 switch. We recently updated speeds from ~27mbps down to ~150mbps down. Up to the switch, we are getting about 150, but after the switch, the speed is between 35-40 down. We have 15 of the 16 ports in use (including one for into the switch), and of those 7 have their lights saying that they're actually being used.
My question is this: is there a way to get the speed on all the ports up to ~150 down, or is the 35-40 to be expected? Would getting a new switch help?

Your bandwidth speed is shared with all of your devices to your network. Definitely, if you do have multiple devices connected to the switch, you will be getting less than what you expected, but if only 1 device is connected to the switch, then you should be getting the highest possible speed that your ISP can give. Even if you replace the switch to your network, it will still do the same thing and that is normal.

And moving from an unmanaged switch (this one) to a smart or managed switch will not change anything, will it? If we have 150mbps spread over 10 ports on an unmanaged switch, it will be the same as having 150mbps over 10 ports on a managed switch, correct?
Moving to a smart switch will not add more bandwith per port as the main bottleneck in your network is the internet speed. Currently the JGS516 has a backlane of 32Gbps so it means that's more than capable to deal with the 150Mbps internet bandwith . So you are right in terms of performance would be the same for an unmanaged switch than for a managed switch when we compare how the bandwith will be splitted. However please take in consideration that managed switches comes with more advanced features like bandwith throttling that will allow you to have a better control of your bandwith and your networl.
