Netgear GS305 switch - NOT WORKING
Good afternoon,
I recently purchased a Netflix GS305 5 port switch following my tp-link swtich deciding to nolonger work (upon review this was common).
I assumed this would be a plug and play situation.
I plugged my ethernet cable into the swtich which lit up and acknowledged it was receiving internet however upon entering another ethernet cable (into another port) and connecting to my console it was not detected - no flashing light. No internet.
I can only assume I am doing something wrong?!
Please can you assist because at this moment atleast the tplink worked for 2 months, this hasn't been a great start.
Kind regards
Frustrated customer.

Re: Netgear GS305 switch - NOT WORKING
Hi Kelso88,
This is a LONG shot answer but I just had what appeared to be the same issue. If I ran a long cable from my gateway to my PC I was connected, if it went through my GS305v3 I was not connected.
Believe it or not, the issue was that I had two DHCP servers on my setup. The path was this:
ARRIS gateway -> Nighthawk MK63 -> GS305 -> PC.
If I bypassed the GS305 it worked! I was thinking that the switch was the culprit. But, after swapping out switches with others I had, even ones from other companies, the behavior was the same.
It turns out my ARRIS was a DHCP server as was my Nighthawk MK63. Although I configured them to use different IP pools it was causing issues.
I changed the ARRIS configuration to be the only DHCP server and the wired connection problem was fixed! I also changed the wired configuration to now be:
ARRIS gateway -> GS305 -> PC.
I'm now working on a separate issue where my wireless devices can connect to my Nighthawk but they can't connect to the internet. UGH! More fiddling with the configuration.
Good luck!
Larry.

Did you try different cables or different ports?
That'd be the first thing I'd start with
