Reason why is the virgin hub in modem mode only gives out 1 public ip address. The router uses that and then assigns multiple private ip addresses to specific devices. So in modem only mode, it needs to go modem------router----switch/devices.

Try running it like this:
virgin modem-------->google wifi------->skyq/etc
