GS116v1: capacitors bulging. Connects at 100Mb only

Hi,

I've just bought a GS116 v1 second user from ebay, and have discovered that it will only accept 100Mb connections, and in some cases not allow connection at all.

After reading several related threads on other sites, it was recommended to take a look at the capacitors on the main board.

I've opened the unit and two of the capacitors have visible bulging on the top.

Can support clarify if I am entitled to a replacement, in that these products were supplied with a lifetime warranty.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I am located in the UK.

Cheers, Lee

Re: GS116v1: capacitors bulging. Connects at 100Mb only

Hi,

Capacitors I ordered arrived this morning.

Replaced the two that were bulging and it's connecting at gigabit speeds now.

For reference it was the 820uf 6.3v ones that were causing my issue.

Hopefully helpful for others having a similar issue with this unit.

Cheers, Lee

Hi lscolman,

Welcome to our community! 🙂

The hardware support warranty is not covered to second hand units and its warranty is not transferable at all. Once you open the unit, it also voids the warranty.

Please check the support warranty here.
