How do I decide what the difference between these two switchwes are?
As far as I can tell from the website literature, the difference seems to be in the warranty as opposed to performance. Am I correct or is there some other factor that recommends one over the other?
It also seems that the 605 is not in the retail pipeline as yet.

There seems to be a little difference on these two switches. As far as I know, the GS200 switch series is newer than the GS600 switch series. The GS205v2 and the GS605v5 are the latest models. Here below are the differences between the GS205v2 and GS605v5:
