Finally making some progress; here is a response a user in another thread received:
'We apologize for the inconvenience. With reference to the NV+ v2 stalling when 80% full, the Engineering is already aware of the issue and the fix is expected to be released for the 5.3.8 version.'
We have fixed the issue, please wait for 5.3.8 release.
not sure if "evan" is a NETGEAR employee or not but seems to suggest they are getting ready to push a new point release of their firmware. hopefully it fixes the issue... not holding breath tho!
Unbelieveably Netgear have only just admitted that they haven't been doing their own testing and previously had no way of knowing whether or not these potential fixes would work! They have ONLY JUST got themselves an NV+ v2 unit which they are filling up with data in attempt to reproduce the issue. This is utter madness, as a 3rd line tech the very first thing I would have done in this scenario is try and reproduce the issue so that I a) have a test subject to work on a fix with and b) proved that it is a general fault and not a one off issue. Apparently this test unit should be full by Monday do hopefully they will have encountered the problem by then.
Thanks, for the reply, I applied the 5.3.8 update without the Factory reset and it did not fix the issue. I have now shifted all data (backed the data up) of the drive and I am going to do a Factory Reset. Backing up the data has taken some time. Will try and let you know what the outcome is.
Hey guys sorry for not keeping the post up to date, I've been very busy! I can however nos confirm that a combination of upgrading to 5.3.8 and then doing a factory reset does solve the problem.
Update! These units are a total pile of sh*t not worthy of being a doorstop. 5.3.8 and factory defaulting (which was a MASSIVE pain in the ar*e by the way) seemed to quell the issue for a while a while but now at 300GB it has returned. Furious, ripped off, and never buying Netcrap again.
