I haven't used my Readynas Duo for a while and have forgotten what username and password I set.
I have tried to reset the password but neither my email address(es) nor my answer to the security question are recognised.
I know that a factory reset would mean that I would lose my data but this does not matter. Would this delete the administrator name and password as well so I can start again.
Many thanks.I haven't used my Readynas Duo for a while and have forgotten what username and password I set.

An OS Re-install will reset the admin password but leave data intact. See http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu
See also http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/what_is_the_frontview_default_login_and_password_after_a_factory...
If you really want to do a factory reset (wipes all data, settings, everything), I'd recommend doing that on 4.1.7 or later so that you get 4k sector partition alignment.

Re: Administrator and password - Reset?
Brilliant - thanks.
I did an OS re-install and the link you provided gave me the default password so I can now log in.
I am very grateful.

Re: Administrator and password - Reset?
Hello all,
I am facing the same issue as described above..
* The https://NAS-IP/password_recovery will not work - it wil say it has send me an email, but the email never arrives
* I have reset my NAS (and pressed the "RESET" button in the back), but without any luck.
Still it will not reset to the standard username / password ("admin" / "netgear1").. 😞
After 6 hours of trying I am getting a bit lost and confused what I am supposed to do now, help plz..

Re: Administrator and password - Reset?
Is this the Duo v1? See How to tell whether I have a Duo v1 or Duo v2 or NV+ v1 or NV+ v2
With the Duo v1 to do an OS/firmware re-install you need to:
1. Power down
2. Press and hold reset button with a paperclip
3. Press power button
4. Continue holding reset button till disk LEDs flash once (after about 5 seconds), then release.

Re: Administrator and password - Reset?
Thanks for the quick reply!!!
Yes, it is the Duo V1..
Because of all the resetting (?) the NAS is currently resyncing.. can I interrupt that proces?
Then I can immedialty check if your procedure works, otherwise I'll have to wait 4h..
Thanks again!

Re: Administrator and password - Reset?
I would wait for the resync to complete then try what I suggested. It is the procedure suggested in the FAQ, though it is a bit unclear there at the moment.

Re: Administrator and password - Reset?
Hi. I have the NV+ V1 here. finally got it all working good last week, my htpc could see it and access it. Then I tried my WDTV live in the rumpus room. It could not see all the file for some reason. I then did a search through these forums and found a user with the same problem and he found a fix. I followed his steps. First thing I did, which is what got me stuck I beleive is I enabled DHCP on my NAS. Then frontpage froze. I closed the browser and then went into Raidar and noticed the IP address had changed. But now it won't accept the default username and password.
How do I get this to work without losing all the data I have spent hours putting on?
Thanks.

Re: Administrator and password - Reset?
Do an OS Re-install: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu
Btw the web-interface of the ReadyNAS is called Frontview not Frontpage.

This won't lose my data? I'm assuming it won't but want to make sure. Frontview yeah, my bad.

Re: Administrator and password - Reset?
An OS Re-install leaves data intact as mentioned in that FAQ entry.
