I don't work for Netgear, but that sounds like a reasonable assessment. It was launched in 2009. The most recent deskop app update was in 2012. They stopped selling the hardware in 2019, and discontinued the cloud service in 2020.

Looks like my only option is to get some Radi recovery software.
Well, there are a couple avenues:
- RAID recovery software (with XFS support). Many let you download first, so you can see if it can find the files
- A data recovery service might be able to help
- if you have enough skills, it might be possible to recover data from a ubuntu linux system. The software would be free in this case, but you would need to know what you are doing.
One aspect to this is the importance of having backup(s) of your data. It's always at risk when it is stored in only one device (or cloud service).

Have you looked at the Open Stora project? (Just Google it.) While, AFAIK, it can't help a user gain access to a new-to-them Stora, it does offer some solutions for those who want to continue to use an already activated device. There are also Flash alternatives available, and the folks at Open Stora may be able to tell you which ones work with it, or you can just try some.
