Android / DLNA & MKV - Play them easily - NO RE-ENCODING!!
You probably already know this but you may find it useful
Ok So I have a duo and a duo2
I'm running both with readydlna and can use it no problems with a pc / tv.
From my android device I am connect to the DLNA server using "Allshare" - this works great for music (can browse by album), pics and some movie formats.
I can now play MKV files on an android device without re-encodoing (as suggested on this forum)
1. Install ES File Explorer from the play store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en
2. Install MX Player (there are different versions according to your processor) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5teHRlY2gudmlkZW9wbGF5ZXIuYWQiXQ..
That's it!
Instead of using All share to browse the DLNA server.
Use ES Fileplayer :-
1. Start it up
2. Click on "Local" top left change to LAN
3. Click "Search" and find your readynas
4. Browse through your shares to the MKV
5. Click on the file to play
easy peasy :D
I now use DLNA for music and photos but streaming vids this was is alot less headache

- couch_potatoeAspirantWhy not try XBMC for Android, as an all-in-one solution - works great on my Galaxy S2 though the screens a bit small, but everything you could need it there...
Just my two-penneth...
