Available Apps page blank

rn314 with 4 4tbdrives firmware 6.6.0, had this issue hit me 11-19-2016 just few days (3 maybe) after upgrading to 6.6.0.

https://community.netgear.com/t5/New-to-ReadyNAS/RN204-volume-lost/td-p/1173539/jump-to/first-unread...

since this was used for media and I had backups I just created new volume and restored files from nightly backup.

but my available apps page shows nothing,

I can manually download and install apps and they show under installed apps and seemm to work, plex is only one I make lot of use of.

I did try manually reinstalling 6.6.0 but it did not help, this require a factory reset and reinstall?

Re: Available Apps page blank

yeah factory defaults worked.

I think I could have deleted volume and done OS reinstall and that may have worked but at that point factory default was just easier really.

so copying stuff back over now.

Re: Available Apps page blank

Plex isn't distributed by Netgear anymore, so you need to manually upload that one anyway.

The list of available apps shown in the UI is stored in the /apps folder itself - you might want to simply wait a while, and see if it populates.

Re: Available Apps page blank

yeah I forgot about plex but still, others should show.

been 36 hours or so , shoul dbe enough time.

/apps only has the 3 I manually installed (2 downloaded from netgear apps page) so not sure why not showing there.

Maybe restart then.

The available apps are in a hidden subfolder (/apps/.freeapps).  That list should be complete (including apps you've already installed).

Mine looks like this:

Re: Available Apps page blank

its been  restarted, but no .freeapps directory present

root@NAS314:~# cd /apps/.freeapps: No such file or directory

ls -al

root@NAS314:/apps# ls -al
total 16
drwxrwxrwx 1 admin admin 138 Nov 21 09:57 .
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 276 Nov 21 09:57 ..
dr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Nov 17 13:14 DO_NOT_DELETE

drwxr-xr-t 1 root root 34 Nov 17 14:15 .readydlna
drwxr-xr-x 1 admin admin 172 Nov 18 09:58 shellinabox
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 106 Nov 18 09:58 smbplus
root@NAS314:/apps#

odd.

not a HUGE deal, can just d/l the app then install when desired but still...

where there was a volume recreation I suspect that drove the apps issue

Could be.  Hopefully @mdgm-ntgr or some other Netgear person will comment.

Re: Available Apps page blank

wonder if recreating that .freeapps directory would fix it.

Possible, though it seems unlikely.

Re: Available Apps page blank

doing an OS reinstall did not fix it,

wonder if I need to delete volumes, remove discs, do the OS reinstall and rebuild from there.

if doing that much may as well go to factory default settings
