BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
Hi Netgear,
Aside from my unresolved (for more than a year) issue (here), I would like to report a bug in the latest firmware.
When the UPS check box under email alerts is unticked, I still receive the erroneous errors explained in the above post regarding my nonexistent UPS issues.
The ability to untick this box is new in this version, but does not seem to provide the requested action. As my original issue is still unresolved, this would at least stop my ReadyNAS from bugging me about it.
A prompt reply (whether or not resolution can be prompt) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Bobby.

Re: BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
Can you provide fresh logs please (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?
Also please mention in the email roughly when you disabled the UPS email alerts.

Re: BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
Thanks mdgm,
I have done that. I disabled the check box on the same day I upgraded to 6.9.3, which was about 29th March from memory.

Re: BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
I've reported the alerts still being sent even with the checkbox unchecked.
As for your the UPS connection issue that would suggest that there could be a problem with your UPS.

Re: BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
Thanks for the update. Hopefully the next verison is better.
As for my UPS, it doesn't have this issue when connected to anything else. At least if the above is sorted I won't get emails everyday 🙂
I appreciate your help.
Bobby.

Re: BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
I checked in the system log, your UPS is EATON 5S 700, it's a pity that I don't have this model. I used American Power Conversion, Smart-UPS 1000 , but I couldn't reproduce it. As you said, I disabled “UPS”check box and then I don't have any ups issues in the system log or email. I'd like to ask you about your specific steps.

Re: BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
I didn't say the bug is that I have issues, the bug is that my issues are emailed to me even though I have unticked the UPS notification box.

I think they realize that (and @mdgm-ntgr reported that specific bug to development).
But of course it would be good to resolve the underlying UPS issues too, so it's unfortunate that Netgear can't reproduce them. You could possibly PM @Amidala and offer remote access to your NAS so they can troubleshoot it on your system.

Re: BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
The NUT UPS compatibility list does not list the 5S, though it does list the 5SC and 5P. Whether that's an oversight or intentional, I cannot say. But I can't find any compatibility complaints (save yours) on public forums within the past 4 years. My 5P works quite well, but I believe it does have quite a different interface.

Re: BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
Thanks for your help guys.
I actually have another thread relating to the original problem, here
but, it's been over a year without any resolution. As the UPS is working okay and I know it shuts the NAS down safely when it's battery gets low, it isn't of high importance to me anymore. I just want not to get 2-4 emails every day about it 🙂
I appreciate all feedback! 🙂

Re: BUG in 6.9.3 FIRMWARE
You can create an email filter to filter out those emails. That's a workaround that you could use for now.
