Back up NAS104 to NV+
I just recently tried the ReadyNAS OS firmware update to 6.1.5 and encountered a problem. My ticket number for assistance is 22530609.
Apparently you need a factory reset in on order for the firmware update to engage. Well, I didn't know this. Support tells me there is a real communication issue here, because the firmware update does not really warn me well enough. Apparently I'm not the first that was caught unprepared.
So I have this ReadyNAS 104 that I'm trying to update, however I need to back up all my data first.
I have an old NV+ that I can use, and hoping I can do it this way.
I tried to create a backup job so I can do this.
I'm not sure how to.
Is there a "dummies Guide" to back up data from one NAS to another?
I tried creating a backup job using nfs, and I get "destination unable to mount" error.
I really don't know what I'm doing.
Again, all this wouldn't be necessary if there was a clear warning that updating the firmware on the NAS104 would result in a total factory reset. I wouldn't have done it.
Please help.

Re: Back up NAS104 to NV+
Updating the firmware should not have automatically resulted in a factory reset. Did you do one (either from the web UI or the front panel?)
For the backup:
(a) create a destination share on the NV+, with everyone read/write access. Enable NFS as a protocol.
(b) on the RN104, select a source share, and "remote:NFS Server" as the destination share. Use the NV+'s host name or IP address in "host", and the destination share name in "path".
(c) execute the backup job.

Re: Back up NAS104 to NV+
I think I got it! Thanks. I didn't set up NFS on the other device.
Backup is going well.
