Cannot change Root SSH Key Pair

Hi
We are using
Model: ReadyNAS 3220
firmware version 6.4.2
Environment - Web interface
We have been using this for sometime and have been using the backup feature.
The problem is that in all this time the root ssh key pair has not been rotated. We would like to keep our data and system secure by changing the ssh key pair of the root user.
I tried switching on and off ssh on the device using the dashboard, but that just disabled and re-enabled the same key pair.
1. Go to System menu
2. Go to Settings sub menu
3. click on SSH
4. Click on Download SSH key file.
---This is root SSH Public Key---
I would like to change this so I have a new key and my system is secure.
We are using the Rsync over SSH option for our backups.
Thanks in advance and taking the time to read this.

Found it.
/root/.ssh is where the key pairs are stored for the root user which is used for backups.
A simple ssh key generation command and you're set to replace the keys.
Google this for better instructions.

Re: Cannot change Root SSH Key Pair
ReadyNAS OS 6.4.2 is very old firmware now. You may wish to consider updating the firmware on your unit at some point.

Re: Cannot change Root SSH Key Pair
HI mdgm
Thank you for your reply.
Could you please verify that if I upgrade it will not bring my system down?
We have some automated backups running. And we don't want to have to set them up again.
Best

Re: Cannot change Root SSH Key Pair
Well you should be prepared for downtime just in case, but normally upgrades go smoothly.
