I have a ReadyNas Duo v2 running 5.3.11
I have a folder I use to backup documents. I am now unable to remove any of the files and folders in this directory. I have gone into shares and reset permissions. This has not corrected the problem. I have no users or security on the NAS.
I noticed there is a Beta from 2013. Would this address this problem? Or is there another way to correct this?

Short Answer: I had to go out for a few hours and now it's working. I don't know why it broke, and now I don't know why it started working. I did the reset permissions on the share and rebooted the NAS. Maybe it had to make a pass to reset each file(?).
But you're right StephenB, good catch. Http was enabled as a service, but not for the share.
It is now happily deleting 11,693 files. Thanks for all your help.

Re: Cannot delete files from Share
I don't have an OS 5 system, but I have found (with OS 4 and OS 6) that sometimes you can delete things using https that you can't delete using CIFS/SMB. So you might try enabling https access for the share, and attempt to delete from the browser interface.
A brute force approach would be to copy the entire share, and delete the folder in the copy. Then delete / recreate the share, and copy the data back.

Re: Cannot delete files from Share
Thanks Stephen. I have https enabled, but from Windows, how would I access the file system on the NAS? If I enter https://192.168.0.7 I get an empty 'Index of Website'.

Re: Cannot delete files from Share
I get a 403 Forbidden error "You don't have permission to access /shares/ on this server." This happens if it's http or https.
Same message if I try http://192.168.0.7/ReadyNas_C

Re: Cannot delete files from Share
Hello cwiebe,
What's the security mode of this NAS? You can find this from System > Settings > Security.
Are you also not able to delete any files from other shares?

Re: Cannot delete files from Share
Did you enable http access to the share first?

Re: Cannot delete files from Share
A few questions if possible.
1. Would it be a good idea to update the NAS to this: RAIDiator-arm-5.3.12-T3
2. After enabling http for the share, I still get a forbidden message with https://192.168.0.7/shares. What is the correct url?
3. Just an FYI. There are no users defined in security for the NAS. There is one group called users, but it has no members.

Re: Cannot delete files from Share
try https://192.168.0.7/webshare
I would install the beta - all it has is security updates. There's a similar "beta" for the v1 NAS, and I have installed it on my systems.
As far as users go, that's something optional for you to set up. Alternatively you can continue to use admin credentials and/or anonymous access.

Re: Cannot delete files from Share
Thanks for the help, and the info. I just did the beta update and I'm getting Device is Offline. I'm hoping it just needs some time.

Re: Cannot delete files from Share
Hello cwiebe,
How's the admin page? Is it still showing device offline? If so, please see if you can still access shares/files. Also, try another web browser and computer. A reboot on the NAS might help too if it is done with the FW update.
Regards,
