DLNA Playlist

DLNA Playlist

Hello,

Are playlists supported? If so what format do they need to be in? I can't get them to show up on my devices. Photos and MP3s are working fine.

Update:
Just in case support is going to be added, here is what I found:

When testing, I am able to get WMP11 to share playlists and my devices can play them via UPnP share.
You cannot find them by browsing through the folders through. You have to use a Playlist menu item.

At the top level, the WMP share has:

MUSIC
VIDEO
PICTURES
PLAYLISTS

Under MUSIC there is also a "Music Playlists" Menu item.

The ReadyNas Share has:
MUSIC
PICTURES
VIDEO

==> No option to get to playlists.

Devices: Archos 5, Phillips NP2900

Re: DLNA Playlist

You're right, there's no support for playlists yet. It will come in a future update, but I don't have a timeframe for that at this point.

Thank you. It's good to know that I wasn't doing something wrong.

Re: DLNA Playlist

Bump - Has there been any progress on playlist support? I'm finding browsing my large music library on an xbox 360 to be a bit slow and think playlists would really make the UPnP experience nicer.

TIA,

Re: DLNA Playlist

I'd be interested if there was any update on this as well. I have just got a Sony Bravia that streams DLNA stuff but no playlists from my ReadyNAS... bah!

Re: DLNA Playlist

Still new to this (2 months into owning my NAS) – I dumped everything off my PC into the NAS which included M3U playlists for music files; they are being shared and my Samsung TV (LE46B650) sees and plays the lists fine adding a “playlist” option under music.

Testing with videos - it doesn't appear to work; we don't get the "playlist" option.

Has support for Playlists via DLNA been added? I'm interested in this now, too.

Re: DLNA Playlist

Sorry, found this thread via google but now found the Add-on thread. Looks like I need to upgrade separately than the NAS OS. thanks.

Re: DLNA Playlist

Just the main thread:
viewtopic.php?f=76&t=27946

Playlists were added in something like March 2010. Even the latest update was supposed to make some playlist improvements. Now I just have to find the best way to make m3u playlists... 😉

So, I haven't tested the feature myself, so YMMV.

Re: DLNA Playlist

Where do you keep the m3u files? In each individual directories? In the root directory that ReadyDLNA is scanning/monitoring?
What directory names do you use in the m3u files to refer to the target mp3 files? relative addressing?
