From your profile data I am guessing Readynas duo v1. If you purchased your duo in Jul 2010, that is what it must be. Also, check on your purchase date. If you joined the forum awhen you purchased, your warranty expired around July. But if you joined to do some purchase research, you might still have coverage - the warranty period is 3 years.
If you are getting no lights/fan sounds, then it is possible that the power brick failed. You might be able to find a replacement - maybe try support.netgear.com and see if they have any advice.

How does diskinternals work? Is this software I install onto a linux machine, and then connect the first(?) disk from the readynas as a an internal drive onto a windows machine on the same network as the linux one? How could it retrieve data from just one of the drives, when presumably it is spread over the 3 that I have in it?
Linux Reader is Windows software. It only works if you have two disks (xraid). Since your profile said duo, I was assuming duo v1 (as I said in the original post).
I have a support ticket open with netgear, and it looks like I'm under waranty. So hopefully it won't come to needing to use the extraction software. Nontheless, I am intrigued if you have the inclination to shed any further knowledge.
