Did I Lose All My Data ReadyNAS NV+ V2

Hello,

Increasing error logs on disk 3 indicated that it was time to get a replacement hard drive (the other three disks were healthy). Before adding the new drive the NAS was powered down with disk 3 & 4 removed (I also pulled out disk 4 when replacing the unhealthy drive did not put it back in right away). In this state I powered up the system and inserted disk 4 (old healthy drive) and then drive 3 (new drive). Before adding the new drives I missed seeing following error log:

"The paths for the shares listed below could not be found. Typically this occurs wen the ReadyNAS is unable to access the data volume". One of the shared drives listed included the one primarily used to backup data.

The next couple logs show the system had identified two new disks (3 & 4). Currently, disk 3 is being tested by the system.

At this time I am unable to access any of the ReadyNAS shared folders from my PC. I get the following error, "Windows cannot access \\NAS\media". I hope that this access issue is temporarily due to the ReadyNAS testing the new disk (#3), but I am worried that I may have lost data. Attached are some screenshots of the logs and errors I have been seeing.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly apprecaited.

XRAID/RAID-5 can only handle one failure/missing disk not two.  So this is where you messed up.  You should have inserted disk 4 before you powered up the system.

Try powering down and removing disk 3.  Then power up again and see if the system comes up in degraded mode.  If you are very lucky it didn't get around to formatting disk 4.

Great.

Another suggestion - you should put a backup plan in place for your data.  RAID alone isn't enough to protect it.
