Disk 2 Dead - But not - Ready NAS NV+ V2

Hi All,

Ok so I got a brand new unit after my first one was faulty -> viewtopic.php?f=65&t=62131

Config:
Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ V2
Radiator 5.3.4
256MB RAM
4 * 2TB WD20EARX HDD's (per the approved hardware list) - Brand New
No UPS
No USB
Disk configured as JBOD

All worked well this time on the set up.

2 days in Disk 2 is failed - no worries, i put in a new 2tb identical disk as above. factory default the unit and configure as JBOD.

1 night goes past - disk 2 failed again!

So i did some digging, I can browse to the drive just fine (as it is configured as JBOD I know what shares are on that disk). Once I am using the drive everything appears normal - the error disapears from the ready nas display and all is fine again 20 mins later device spins down and I get the same error. I believe this to be weird because both disks are new and non sequential serial numbers.

The whole time (failed disk or not) Raidar shows all green and when I log into to raidiator all drives are healthy etc...

I called support and the tech said to cehck out the smart logs - all had no errors reported - see below for the logs for drive two.

So am I missing something? is it something I have to live with and the disk is fine?

As a side note - my issues from the 1st device started with a faulty drive error message. On bay 2!

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide for this matter - I have searched the forums with no luck.

Re: Disk 2 Dead - But not - Ready NAS NV+ V2

Can you power down, remove the disk and connect it to an internal SATA port in your PC and test it using WD LifeGuard Diagnostics?

Re: Disk 2 Dead - But not - Ready NAS NV+ V2

This is a known issue, it drop the partitions on md0 which is builded as RAID 1 and installed ReadyNAS system, data is stored in md2, so don't worry, the issue don't affect your data, please reboot the unit, the missed partitions on md0 will be recovery, we are debugging the issue.
You can run command" cat /proc/mdstat" to check partitions on md0 and md2.

Re: Disk 2 Dead - But not - Ready NAS NV+ V2

I was having a similar problem with my Ready NAS NV+ v2. I have 4 3TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST3000DM001 which are on the HCL. It kept stating disk 1 or 2 failed and after a reboot or two it started syncing. After I switched it from Xraid2 to flexraid the drive failures ceased. I have not had any problems with disk failures since which has been a month so far.

Config:
Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ V2
Radiator 5.3.4
256MB RAM
4 3TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST3000DM001
Flex-raid 5
