Duo v1; RAIDiator 4.1.8; X-RAID -> upgrade 1 TB to 2 TB disc

I have a Duo ver 1 (SPARC) with 2 x 1 TB drives. I want to upgrade them to 2 x 2 TB drives. The 2 TB drives are on HCL list (Seagate ST2000DM001).

Should I pop out an existing drive and replace it with the 2TB drive while the Duo is running?
Or shutdown -> replace drive -> power up?

Please confirm there is no process running on your nas first, then you can pop out one driver and replace when it's running.

How do I verify that nothing is running on the Duo? Look at the Log?

By the way, why is it preferred to do the swap of the drives while the Duo is on? Shutting it down safely first will ensure that nothing is running on it ....

If you hot-swap the drive, then the NAS detects the deletion and insertion. If you power down/power up, then it has to infer that a new drive is inserted. So the NAS gets a bit more information on what you are doing if you hot-swap.

The NAS should handle the hot-swap even if a backup or add-on is doing something, though it goes faster if it isn't. Not sure why cloud is suggesting that you look at processes, as that requires ssh access.

Anyway, it is always a good idea to update your backup before replacing disks.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm not proficient enough to mess with SSH, but I'll make sure nothing obvious is running. I backup to an external 2TB USB drive attached to the Duo.
In my opinion, Frontview should have a GUI (wizard?) to step through things like drive swaps, although just removing one drive will be a good test of the Duo surviving an unexpected drive failure and still making the data available.
