DuoV1 - Blue Blinking, D1 Solid, D2 Blinking - stuck!
Need a little help debugging this issue...
Disk 2 had died and so I was running some troubleshooting. Unit was working ok until I tried downloading logs and then it's been stuck ever since. I had to forcibly unplug the unit in order to 'reboot'. I've tried removing the dead drive from Disk 2 and reboot but still same. So, summary..
Current State:
- Recently upgraded firmware
- Disk 1 Ok
- Disk 2 Removed (dead)
Boot up, the power LED continues to blink, Disk 1 LED solid, Disk 2 LED blinking.
- RAIDar has the unit as 100%. Volume is yellow (makes sense), Disk 1 is green, Disk 2 is yellow,
- Can't access FrontView.
- Oddly enough, RAIDar sees it but my router doesn't list it on the LAN.
SO.... I basically just want to get the unit running with Disk 1 so I can ensure my backup. To which at that point, I don't mind wiping the whole unit clean. I was about to do a factory reset but read something about that rendering the system dead if I have a dead drive? In any case, I'm a bit lost as to what's going on and what I ought to do. My best runner up is Factory Reset.
Would appreciate any pointers!

Re: DuoV1 - Blue Blinking, D1 Solid, D2 Blinking - stuck!
It sounds likely to me that it is a full OS partition - that when you tried to download the logs, that the zip file the NAS created for download filled it up.
You can probably read the contents of disk 1 with linux reader on a PC (assuming you can attach it with USB or SATA). (http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/)
An OS reinstall might also work (page 16 here: http://www.readynas.com/download/docume ... 6Dec11.pdf)
I'd probably start with Linux Reader to get the data off - that is the lowest risk approach.
Then replace drive 1 (NAS powered down), and try the OS reinstall. That will reset your password to netgear1, and set your IP address to DHCP, but won't change anything else. If that works, then immediately delete the logs (don't attempt to download them), and deal with replacing disk 2. If the OS reinstall works, you get back up more quickly than if you need to reset.
If it fails, then you probably should do the factory reset, reinstall any addons, reconfigure it, and then reload data from the backup.

Re: DuoV1 - Blue Blinking, D1 Solid, D2 Blinking - stuck!
Thanks for the suggestions. For whatever reason the linux reader didn't pick up the drive.
But in any case, I ended up just reinstalling the OS. That worked and I was able to bring up FrontView. I then proceeded to try and do a backup via the FrontUSB port. Eventually it failed and the logs told me an unknown error had occurred and for me to check the logs. Stupid me decided to download the logs to do that and of course, the system hung up again. I did previously clean up the logs via the "clear logs" button. So I basically just reinstalled the OS again and it's back up again. At this point, at least the system is up. I think I'll simply be patient and copy the files over the network and then once I've got it, I'll clean it up completely.
Unless someone thinks there's a better way, I think I'll be going down this route for now. The download logs thing is really strange though. In any case, Thanks StephenB for the pointers!
