Dustbin

Good morning,

is it possible to create a dustbin to recover deleted files, as we have in windows for example?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Dustbin

Snapshots have some similar properties, so you might want to look into those first.  With snapshots enabled, you can right-click on a file or folder in Windows, and you will have an option to restore previous versions that are in the snapshots.

It is possible to create a network recycle bin for a share, but it requires the use of ssh.  That does have support implications - if you do this incorrectly and do damage,  Netgear will deny support.  The method is outlined here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Can-Recycle-Bin-be-enabled-for-CIFS-and-OS-6-1-...

Note you'd need to add a section to the addons.conf file for each share that needs a recycle bin.

Re: Dustbin

Thank you for your answer. I will try. But it is unfortunate that ready Nas do not offer a simple way to recover a file deleted by error.

By the way, in a first try, I could not  activate snapshots.
