EDA500: Please remove the inactive volumes
I have a ReadyNas 316 with an EDA500 connected to it. Everything has been working well. I use only WD Red drives.
Today, the EDA500 won't mount. In the admin view it says:
Please remove the inactive volumes in order to use the disk. Disk #1, #2, #3, #4, #5.
My only options there are to Balance and Destroy.
There is nothing in the logs to indicate any issues at all. Root free space is normal, and nothing seems to be causing the problem.
1) Anyone know how I can solve this?
2) Would balancing possibly help or hurt the EDA500?

Re: EDA500: Please remove the inactive volumes
I have the same problem with EDA500. I mount volume manually over SSH and after this EDA500 is working again.
My actions:
1. check unmounted volume. It should find my volume /dev/md/eda1-0. Your volume can be different
# mdadm --assemble --scan
2. mount volume /eda1 - is my mountpoint (created by default)
# mount -t btrfs /dev/md/eda1-0 /eda1
or
# mount -t btrfs /dev/md126 /eda1

Re: EDA500: Please remove the inactive volumes
Which firmware are you running?
This problem can happen e.g. if you dislodge the eSATA cable.
Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs in my sig)?
No, don't try running a balance.

Re: EDA500: Please remove the inactive volumes
So I have actually 2 EDA500s. One, /eda2, shows up and is OK. /eda1 is the problem one.

The super frustrating thing is that if I waited 4 months to buy my readynas, I'd have qualified for the lifetime chat support. Really sucks that netgears policy prevents me from getting support simply because of a purchase date issue.

There are support contracts available for purchase. If you login to my.netgear.com and register your product (if you have not already) you will be able to see what's available for purchase.

Re: EDA500: Please remove the inactive volumes
Yeah, I know that, but that's really all that helpful. I purchased my unit in January 2014.
*Lifetime chat is offered for the products indicated on this table only if they were purchased between June 1, 2014 and May 31, 2016.
I guess I should have known to wait 6 months to get free lifetime support. You would figure that given I've already purchased 2 EDA500 and a couple of ReadyNas, if Netgear couldn't update their policy to make sense, to at least have some help here on the forums. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but I've got data that is offline, with a problem that seems to not be unique to me, and I'm just looking for some guidance.

Re: EDA500: Please remove the inactive volumes
I did ask for you to send in logs earlier (the instructions are in the article the Sending Logs link in my sig links to). I don't recall receiving any logs yet.
Depending what the issue is it may/may not be something that lifetime online chat would have covered anyway.

Re: EDA500: Please remove the inactive volumes
Thanks. The machine is remote - am waiting for the logs to get sent to me and then I'll get them to you.

Logs got sent in a week ago - any idea on what happens now?
