Encrypted backup to USB disk
My ReadyNAS storage is encrypted. I want to use a USB connected drive as offline backup. Will the ReadyNAS backup utility continue the encryption to the USB drive or do I have to do something else to force the encryption?

Re: Encrypted backup to USB disk
You could install the command-line vesion of VeraCrypt on the NAS to encrypt the drive, but I don't recommend it for those not already at least a little Linux-savy. You'd have to use SSH to mount/dismount the volume. Unless more than one computer needs access to the USB drive, you are better off attaching it to the PC or Mac and running VeraCrypt there.

BitLocker would also work from the PC, but I think you'd need a paid app to access the encrypted files on the Mac.
