Error in KB23809

This article: kb.netgear.com/23809/How-do-I-change-the-password-of-my-ReadyNAS-user-account-on-my-ReadyNAS-OS-6-st... states the following:

To change the password of your ReadyNAS user account:

  1. 1.On a computer that uses the same LAN as your ReadyNAS system, visit https://<ReadyNAS IP address>/password_recovery/my_password.html, where <ReadyNAS IP address> is the IP address of the ReadyNAS.

This is incorrect.  The correct URL is https://<ReadyNAS IP address>/my_password.html

Re: Error in KB23809

Hi Sandshark,

Thank you for reporting this. I just tried it here on our NAS with OS 6.9.5 and the URL that worked in changing the NAS admin password is the https://<ReadyNAS IP address>/password_recovery/my_password.html. We will further check on this one just to be sure.

Regards,

Re: Error in KB23809

https://<ReadyNAS IP address>/password_recovery/my_password.html works for me in a browser where I am already logged in to the admin UI and it doesn't work with the abbreviated version in that scenario.  The opposite is true from a freshly booted computer where I have not logged into the NAS UI.

A standard user isn't going to be logged in, and this is where they need to be able to go to

Test it with a computer with no NAS https: credentials used or saved, and you will find it fails on 6.9.2, 6.9.5, and 6.10.0 (RC1) with a 404 error.  At least, it has for me on two different computers with Chrome and IE.  It looks like there is something amiss with re-directs.
