Still not successful with generating a self-signed CA certificate. Trying everything but the kitchen sink.
Ended up getting and installing a letsencrypt SSL certificate instead. Unfrotunately as the tns authentication method has been deprecated dthe only thing left is HTTP validation for which I had to open and forward port 80 on my router, which is one hell of a security vulnerability and which I will have to do each 3 months :(
Also, letsencrypt has blocked *.mynetgear.com domain from getting additional certificates as they have issued too many already and I additionally had to make a subdomain for my blog and CNAME it to the mynetgear DDNS url.
