Getting "used disks" message

I have a RN51600 here that belongs to a friend that I'm trying to help get it going.

It has 4- 4TB drives in it and it's gettign the "used disk" error when booting.

These 4 drives were working fine in the 516, then they just came up with this error.

So I remove the 4 drives and put 2 -750gb drives in to verify the chassis is fine. That was able to boot and config the 2 drives just fine. But I still get the error with the 4 drives.

How can I verify if the data is still good and if it's a bad drive issue.

nit sure what to do from here.

thanks for any help

Re: Getting "used disks" message

Do you have a backup of the data from the 4x4TB drives that were used in the RN516?
Were the 4x4TB drives been used to another NAS then inserted back to the RN516?

You may run a disk test (Extended Test) on all 4x4TB drives to make sure that they're healthy using the Seagate SeaTools or Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics from Windows. Check these links below:

Re: Getting "used disks" message

There is no back up, and these drives were only used in this unit.

thanks

Re: Getting "used disks" message

Do you recall which firmware is on this unit from when you booted it with your 2 scratch disks?

Sent you a PM.

Re: Getting "used disks" message

I don't recall, but I could check if needed. I responded to your PM.

Thanks

Re: Getting "used disks" message

This looks like a data recovery situation to me. Two of your disks have dropped out of the data volume array (well one is missing its data volume partition and the other one has an older update time than the remaining two disks).
