Ghost files - Re-scan scheduling
Hey Guys
I read a post on here about ghost files that a TV can see using DLNA, that you have to rescan to get rid of them.
So my question is there a way of of scheduling a rescan on the DLNA rather than it set to Auto as i am finding this a problem that it doesn’t scan an update enough, as i move files and delete them quite allot
Regards
John

Re: Ghost files - Re-scan scheduling
The ReadyNAS DLNA system has a default scan time of 900 seconds (every 15 minutes), this can be changed using SSH and say, putty, at /etc/minidlna.conf you can also change the "friendly" name of your DLNA server.

The auto scan is likely better at adding new files than it is at removing deleted files.
One possibility is to be able to set up a schedule for a full rescan. That would be a new feature, so maybe post it to the idea exchange.

Re: Ghost files - Re-scan scheduling
i did a manual rescan on the DLNA, i found it got rid of the deleted files but i have noticed that one of my folders is missing, i checked it again after a hour or so but its still not there, might do a rescan again see if appears after that.
Does anyone know if Twonky can be installed on the ReadyNas i used to use that on my pc before i got a NAS and that seemed to work really well streaming direct to the TVs

Have a look at "Apps" then "Available Apps" on your NAS GUI, "Twonky Server" should be there, but I have never used it personally

i did look in the apps GUI, but i didn't see it there, i presumed that it had to be installed manually

Re: Ghost files - Re-scan scheduling
The other option for OS-6 NAS is plex - which also includes a DLNA server. You download it from plex and manually install it.
It's possible that your issue is due to a corrupt media file that is crashing the scan. Try downloading the log zip file from the web ui, and looking in upnp-av.log.
