[HELP] ReadyNAS Duo v2 - Cannot Raid 0, keeps doing Raid 1
Hi there, I am having an issue with my newly used (bought it awhile ago just now using it) ReadyNAS Duo v2.
I recently picked up 2x WD 2TB drives and I'm trying to set up my drive so that I can have it in RAID 0 (3.8TB) of space. Yet everytime I select FLEX RAID 0 it goes through the process and takes forever (about 12 hours) and ends up being FLEX RAID 1 - Redundant.
I am just using this to store random media and not using it as a back up or for anything vital - if data is lost its all replaceable and not an issue so the space far outweights the safety of having a fail safe.
Initially I tried RAIDX and it gave me 1.8TB space so I read up on it and found I needed to do Flex and use RAID 0. I've done this process 4 times now and every time it comes out as 1.8TB Redundant RAID 1.
The process I'm using is doing a factory reset is: Holding reset while unplugged > plug in while holding and power on > use back up to select the HD1 option for Factory Default > let that complete > RAIDar > Set Up > Prompted for RAID type > FLEX > RAID 0 > Wait several hours (close to 12hrs) > Load up RAIDar > 2 Drives showing healthy > Admin > System > RAID 1 Redundancy is active.
This will be the 5th day of me doing this process and no matter what I do it will select RAID 1. I do not want this option and want my full space of both drives available. Can ANYONE please help me get this sorted.
INFO:
- 2x WD Red 2TB Drives > Both brand new, healthy, no issues.
- Firmware is upto date
- Everything complete w/o error.

Re: [HELP] ReadyNAS Duo v2 - Cannot Raid 0, keeps doing Raid 1
Will two RAID-0 volumes work for you? That is much safer anyway, since one volume totally fails when either disk fails.
If so, do the reset/flex-raid->RAID-0 procedure with only one drive installed. Then hot-insert the second drive and create a new volume.

Also RAIDar 4.3.8 shouod work for setting the RAID level. The problem using RAIDar 6.x for this is a known issue. RAIDar 6 was designed primarily with our current models in mind.
