Help - Kernel Panic - How to turn off

I have got the message "Kernal Panic", after turning my ReadyNAS NV+ v1 back on, and have read the threads about checking disks etc.

But I cannot do this until I have managed to turn the NAS off safely, and the power button isn't doing this.  Will it be still checking through the arrays? Do I have to do this? The other threads say not to hot swap in this situation so would like to do a proper shut down before removing drives to check they are ok.

Thanks in advance for your help

Cheers,

DrNik.

I marked your duplicate post as "spam" just to get rid of it.

If ssh is enabled and working, you could issue a shutdown command from the linux command line.

If ssh isn't enabled, the web ui isn't responding, and the power button isn't either, then your only option is to disconnect the power.  Try holding the power button down for a while, and if that fails you'll need to pull the plug.

That isn't ideal - and sometimes unexpected power cuts do result in data loss.  But that's the only option left.

DON'T hot-swap now though - that would be very risky with the NAS in its current state.
