Help me/my Grandaughter access ReadyNAS from Android?

I have a number of home movies which I have made as .m4v files.

I have a ReadyNas NV+ v1 and I have stored them in the share MEDIA / VIDEO. I can access them on my PC or on my Apple iPad using VLC. So I know it works.
BTW... My limited understanding would indicate it is not streaming, but simply accessing the file using UPNP - Is that right?

MAIN QUESTION
My grandaughter has an Android phone, and her boyfriend an Android Tablet.
They tried (and so did I) to access the same files on the ReadyNas NV+ using VLC for Android.
Can someone give the settings for the Androids and also VLC please? I tried http://... etc; 192.168.1.50 ; FTP etc... but no joy.
