Help with setup NV+ v2.
Hello all, I recently bought the ReadyNas RND4000 NV+ v2 (Marvell cpu) which I understand is ARM based. It does not have the latest version of Raidiator (I think its 5). I've been looking around your forums and didn't find a case to match mine but if someone knows of something similar please post a link. These are my questions:
-My HD setup includes 2x500GB seagates and 2x2TB WD's. According to the manual provided by the seller I should be able to find a JBOD option in the flexRAID menu during initial setup. However after intalling (only) the 2x500GB disks the flexRAID menu only included RAID(0,1,5) and above flexRAID I could see the XRAID option. My intention is to setup the machine in a way to provide maximum storage without any security.
That is, any setup that cuts storage from my disks to protect my data, I don't want it. So my question is, since i can't seem to find JBOD is there a way to setup XRAID (or other) so that I don't lose any space?
*btw I read somewhere that I could setup each one of my disks as a separate RAID 0 (I assume flexRAID) but although this is a viable solution for me I don't know how this could be achieved as the only time I saw the RAID menu was during the first startup. So to do this I should reset the machine to factory defaults which would also reset tha previous disk I installed => Not good...
-Secondly, concerning the latest firmware I saw that version 5 of the RAIDIATOR has been out since November. So I was wondering if I should upgrade via file or not. I managed to get the latest upgrade from the current RAIDiator but i only got the latest v4 firmware and not v5.
Again although I searched maybe some of these issues have already been addressed. Thanks for your time!

Re: Help with setup NV+ v2.
If you are running v4 firmware, then you did not purchase an NV+ v2.

Check here, to be certain: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
Switching to flexraid/jbod requires a factory reset procedure. That will wipe your data, and reset your config to factory default settings

Re: Help with setup NV+ v2.
According to the site you posted my version is the v1. Which means that someone tampered with my package because on the front it says v2... I guess its a good thing it works at least. If I update my firmware to version 5 will I have the JBOD option available? And if not will I be able to setup the rest of my hard drives (2x2TB) as RAID 0 separately without a hardware reset? I have already installed my 2x500GB in a RAID 0 so I will install the first 2TB create a new volume then the second and do the same...?

Re: Help with setup NV+ v2.
If you have a v1, you cannot run version 5 firmware.
v1 -> 4.1.x
x86 -> 4.2.x
v2 -> 5.x.x
RN1xx/RN3xx/RN5xx (announced 18 March) -> 6.x.x
It seems to me that you if you purchased a v2, but received a v1, you should probably contact the seller. At the very least they should give you a rebate for selling you a product that was end-of-lifed a year ago.
In terms of exchange options, you are at in interesting point. You could ask for an RN104 or an RN314 (which is just announced). You'd be moving into brand-new territory.
Or maybe go for an ultra-4 (which will be replaced by the new line, but which has good features and is stable). At this point I personally wouldn't go for a v2. It is also being replaced by the new line, and hasn't been out there very long.

Re: Help with setup NV+ v2.
After two long weeks of negotiations with the store they have suggested that I exchange my system with a Thecus device :oops: . Unfortunately that's my only option right now since all the other suggestion they made were unacceptable. Of course they denied to transfer my data from one system to another so I have to find another way to keep my files. So does anyone know if I can mount a hdd from nv+ v1 on an external usb hdd mount?

Re: Help with setup NV+ v2.
You have 4 drives installed and are using XRAID, correct? If true, you cannot get any data off of a single hard drive, the RAID-5 format spreads the data across the disks.
How much data do you have on the device?
