Here is promised Symform support?
I have just upgraded my Readynas 2120 to a readynas 102.
I used to have Symform installed, providing a safe free online backup in case of fire or theft.
In the article https://www.readynas.com/index.php?s=SYMFORM it seems to promise Symform support as well for Readynas 102.
But it is not available...
Only for arm and x86 devices.
I feel a bit misguided, as i am uncomfortable without cloud backup of valuable photos and video.
Is there any development going between Netgear and Symform?
Or a workaround?
Kind regards
Tore

The SYMFORM article you found looks like it is for legacy x86 devices

Re: Here is promised Symform support?
There are some posts in their community forum saying it is still under development (https://community.symform.com/entries/7 ... Readynas-6 and https://community.symform.com/entries/7 ... ompatible-). These posts pre-date the acquisition (and in my experience being acquired definitely slows down the roadmap).

Re: Here is promised Symform support?
Sorry for the misspelling in the post - it was meant as "WHere is promised Symform support?"
The download of Symform for Readynas is here: http://www.symform.com/download/nas/
Only old devices..
But the article saying there is a symform application is from the Netgear archive. (https://www.readynas.com/index.php?s=SYMFORM)
- Search for :"the Symform Cloud Backup application that enables free online cloud backup."
Anyway - Symform works with all old Readynas devices - but not the new one.
Its true that they have been acquired.
So there is no sign of development then..?
Kind regards and happy easter

Re: Here is promised Symform support?
I saw the article you linked to before, and in fact it doesn't promise OS6 support.
It was mostly about the OS6 launch (dated 13 March 2013, when OS6 platforms became generally available), but then shifted to the now-discontinued genie marketplace:
...Pahnke added, “We want to give our customers productivity-enhancing, innovative, and entertaining ways to do more with their NAS than they ever thought possible. With this in mind, ReadyNAS devices feature a rich set of embedded apps in addition to the growing library of add-ons found in the genie+ marketplace (genie.netgear.com/).”
Launched last year, genie+ marketplace is a platform for third party developers to deliver exciting, new applications which can be installed on ReadyNAS boxes with a single click. The suite of new applications includes productivity tools, media sharing applications, and a variety of other useful apps. Along with the currently available apps, NETGEAR has over 600 developers registered to create additional apps supporting the products announced today. Among the 40+ applications available are the Polkast media sharing application that allows owners to enjoy all of the content stored on their device from their mobile devices, the QNext FB social cloud application that enables users to share any of their content with any Facebook friend without having to upload the content, and the Symform Cloud Backup application that enables free online cloud backup...[/quote:10f31xkb].
The genie+ marketplace wasn't just for OS6 readynas, the vision was clearly to cover all netgear devices (routers, gateways and readynas at least). Looking at the original launch for the marketplace:
...Standards-based tools for developers
Whether developers are looking to create simple web apps, drivers or integration software for NETGEAR consumer devices, the NETGEAR Smart Network development platform simplifies the job. Complete, easy-to-access resources are available, including:
...
Java bundles: For apps hosted inside the home on NETGEAR always-on routers, gateways or ReadyNAS® devices, developers writing in Java are supplied with libraries, tutorials, sample applications and templates.[/quote:10f31xkb]
So the press release you cite doesn't actually doesn't promise SYMFORM support for OS6 (though it is easy to misread it to say that). But the community forum for SYMFORM suggests that SYMFORM was and perhaps still are working on it.

Re: Here is promised Symform support?
I wish that I knew about this thread sooner. Symform does work on new OS6 devices, I have it running smoothly on a RN104, so it should run on your 102 just fine. The download link can be tricky to find. You can't get it from the Netgear App Store anymore, but Symform still supports the ReadyNAS line and offers the software for manual download in their support pages (but not on their homepage, which still directs users to the Netgear App Store). Here is the link for current download of Symform: https://community.symform.com/entries/36732836-NETGEAR-ReadyNAS-ARM-Manual-software-installation-or-...
Once you download the ARM .deb installation file, go to the Apps tab on your ReadyNAS. Click "Upload" and locate the Symform.deb file. Your NAS will take about 2 minutes to install the client and then you need to spend a few moments configuring it. From then on, it's totally hands-off.
There isn't any news yet about what Quantum is going to do with the company, other than that they will be "adding features" and growing it in the future. For now, Symform continues to operate just as it did prior to being purchased, and Quantum has no announced plans to dismantle the company.
It's the most brilliant backup solution I've ever found. Long live Symform!
Hope this helps.
