How do I set up a basic backup job?

I am trying to make a complete backup of my NAS. Most guides recommend making a basic backup (without rsync) first and after completion edit the job to rsync. But how do I make a basic backup job work???

Source: c/
Destination: Rear left USB

Testing connection says: Invalid path. Whata? And right side USB gives the same.
Should something be written in the other fields: host, path, login and password?
I read something about NFS being faster than rsync and assumed that USB backups used NFS, so I activated NFS and - same result. No difference.

Did you select volume: C for the source (in the pulldown menu for step 1) or do something else?

NFS is a network protocol, it doesn't apply to local backups. You can use rsync - there is a guide here: http://www.rnasguide.com/2010/09/23/rsy ... -usb-disk/

Yes. Pulldown source = c
Thanks for clarifying about NFS being not needed for local backups.

Re: How do I set up a basic backup job?

This might be a (new) bug.
I have been using rsync with USB backups for specific shares for a long time. But when I tried to use rsync for full backups of the nas volume (c/) it didn't work. I just noticed that rsync was not active for my external USB drive. So I activated it. Now full backups works with rsync.
How could the backups of shares work without rsync being active on the external USB drive??

I still can't make basic backups work. Never worked.
