Initial setup

I need a link to the setup software.  I have the RAIDar utility which verifies that the 2x2TB drives are correctly formated and the NAS Duo V2 is ready and properly connecte.  The 5.3 SW manual that I found online shows a setup button in RAIDar utility but perhaps this was an earlier version.

There is none.  You browse to http://nas-ip-address/admin or http://nas-name/admin to do the setup (using the real NAS ip address or host name).

 

The RAIDar utility can provide some useful information.  Version 4.3.8 is needed for enable flexraid (the only exception to the "no setup software" rule), but you can use 6.4 if you aren't doing that.  https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads#raidar

 

There are two quite different Duo platforms - the original Duo (called a Duo v1 here), and the Duo v2.  You do need to be careful on platform identification - the labeling can be misleading.

A Duo v1

  • runs 4.1.x firmware
  • says ReadyNAS Duo on the front panel
  • might have v2 labels on the rear or bottom.

A Duo v2

  • runs 5.3.x firmware
  • says ReadyNAS Duo v2 on the front panel

 RAIDar does report these correctly, so you can use it to confirm the platform.

Thanks!!  But when I went to my for the ReadyNAS IP 192.168.1.12/admin, it asked for a user ID and password.  I don't know what IDs or password is required?  Any ideas?

Hi kesch,

 

If your NAS is a Duo v1 the default admin credentials is admin for username and netgear1 for password. If is a Duo v2, the default admin credentials is admin for username and password for password.

 

In case that did not work, the admin password might have been changed. You can change it back to default by doing an OS reinstall. Here is the link for the steps on how to access the boot menu and select the OS reinstall:
