Missing files/folders
I had the NV+ working perfectly with my new WDTV Live. So I added more movie files (mkvs) and I cleaned up my NAS by deleting some old movies as well. However, the WDTV Live did not see the new movies and still showed the now deleted movies. Back and forth, long story short, I went from seeing 30+ movies and folders to seeing 2 folders, 3 movies and none of the 3 movies will play now.
I've read about ReadyDNLA issues with missing files/folders and rescan issues but not sure exactly what to do and if I have any options. I've seen twonkyserver mentioned but I don't want my computer left on and don't want to have to pay for it. MiniDNLA is not out for OS X. Any help?

Can you try ReadyDLNA 1.0.24?: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=27946

Re: Missing files/folders
K, I updated and that did nothing. However, I had a few different folders with movies that I had recently moved onto the NAS. So I moved a chunk of them into a 'videos' folder. Since I did that, the folders before that one now display and the videos in those folders display and play. So I think I have a bad file, or it's because I have files not inside folders.
So I will put all the strays into a folder to see if that helps, otherwise, i believe it to be a bad file. How do I check for a bad movie file when they are all 3gb-15gb in size? I will go by a date created sort, and try to move those into a newly created folder, and them move them out one by one I guess.

Re: Missing files/folders
OK, well, I thought it was a bad file. So I made a new folder, put in the good ones, and I only added 3 movies to the new folder, so nothing of any value. I went and check the WDTV and it showed all of my folders and all the content in all of the folders. So maybe readydlna did work and my NV+ just needed time to re-scan and update the wdtv live?
Either way, whoohoo.
*Edit, so it has everything up to a certain movie alphabetized with P, then doesn't display about 15 movie folders/files after through z (but does now show every folder). So not sure if the scanning didn't finish or if the WDTV Live simply hasn't updated all the files. I just deleted one file off the NV+ and it still shows on the Live. Is there a general procedure for getting the media player to update to get the latest files? Like it's caching or something.

Re: Missing files/folders
K, this is really frustrating.
Today, of the 15 movie folders, only 4 would display and only 5 movies out of like 67 showed up.
I got on tech support with WD and they had me create a new folder, it showed up on Live, then move a movie into it. I did, one movie that was not showing up in a folder was now showing up after I moved it to the newly created folder. Then, 2 folders that had been displaying were now not displaying. So it's like musical chairs, just with folders and files. They are stumped and told me to see what Netgear says.
If I tried it as a shared library the Live freezes. So the network server is my only option and that's flaky if it relies on a broken readydnla.

Re: Missing files/folders
When did you purchase this NV+? I presume it's the v1? Under Services > Streaming Services > ReadyDLNA there should be an option to Rescan media files. Can you try this?
Download your logs (Status > Logs > Download all logs) and extract the zip contents. What does your upnp-av.log look like? If you still have issues you may wish to try the Toggle Debug add-on (re-installing it uninstalls it) and look at the output of upnp-av.log when using that.

Re: Missing files/folders
I've had the NV+ for 4 years maybe. I have the rescan button and I've hit it. It says scanning has started and the button greys out. I don't know how to turn on debug mode. I will look at the logs tonight.
The frustrating thing is day 1, 90% of my files on the NV+ show up on the WDTVLive and the next day the Live will only show like 10% of the files. Now I can't get that 90% of files to show up again. I've rescanned, rebooted the NV and my router.
I'd rather just bypass readydnla and use the NV+ as a shared library (-instead of network server) but the Live freezes when it tries to read files.
