My ReadyNas DuoV2 won't boot with disc

Hi

I been trying to start up my 9 year old ReadyNas Duo (V2 I think), but it won't boot. It only has one disc. I haven't used it for 5-6 years but it's been stored dry. I have been running some test on the disc and it seems to be in working order. It's a 2TB Seagate and I tested it with Seagates SeaTools.

When I fire it up it doesn't seem to see the hard drive. The green light doesn't light up on ReadyNas

Raidar can't find the ReadyNas

Help much appreciated 🙂

Does RAIDar find the NAS with no drive installed?

If yes, then a Factory Default is the typical next step.  If no, then USB recovery is (RAIDiator-4-1-USB-Recovery-Tool ).

If it says "Duo" on the front panel, then it's a v1. If it says "Duo v2" on the front panel, then it's a v2. Ignore the other labels.

Are you seeing any indication that the Duo is powered?

Then it's a V1 🙂

Yes - the blue on/off buttom is flashing different combinations of fast and slow and it's says bip every now and then

I've tried all five different boot modes (https://kb.netgear.com/24874/How-do-I-access-the-boot-menu-on-my-ReadyNAS-Duo-NV-NV-X6-or-600) but only when I do the Memory test are the green disc indicators on.

The RAM seems to be working

Is the LED pattern one of these?

LED blink behavior for 2 disk systems is three quick blinks of all disk LEDs and the backup LED, followed by an 1s delay, followed by a number of slow blinks. The number of slow blinks will be the error code.

Current error codes:
1 - Vendor mismatch
2 - No disks detected
3 - Bad contents on root partition of disks
4 - Flash error
5 - Unsupported RAID configuration

Sadly no. It's more 15-16 slow ones from the blue power on/off LED

Wow, the edit time expired quickly on that one.  Just wanted to add that a Factory Default wipes the drives, but I assumed after all that time that that was not a problem.

Since the answer is yes I guess reset is the next step 😞

Luckly the disc only contains music so

Thank you for taking the time to help out 🙂

If you can connect the disk to a Windows PC (either with SATA or a USB adapter/dock), then you could install R-linux for Windows (free) and see if it finds anything.  https://www.r-studio.com/free-linux-recovery/
