Note: after downgrading to 4.1.8 I was able to reinstall the 1 GB SODIMM.

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
I have the same problem - 4.1.10 hangs during boot (Nv+ v1 with 1GB RAM).
I have to remove disk 4 in order to get it to boot.
There are some kind of bug in 4.1.10. (I've had 1GB for ages and it has worked perfect until 4.1.10 was installed)
I'm currently reverting to 4.1.9 and hope that will help. If not, I'll try 4.1.8.

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
Is there a problem with firmware 4.1.10 for Nas 1100?
Since update to 9 and now 10, the share security is messed up !!
Auto power has stopped working long time ago !!!
I was encouraged by Support to log a post on the forum - but ot no avail ! Many read the post but no answers !!!!
Since upgrade, the device is creating shares etc, but the security settings are all going wrong !
ANy one with any ideas?
THe device is on domain using AD.
Thanks

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
4.1.10 firmware is broken.
After two months of back and forth with Netgear tech support, My NAS is finally back up and running. I spent a whole lot of time with support, who had me spend several $100s buying new RAM and hard drives only to find 4.1.10 does not work with NVs and 4 hard drives. On a whim, I went back to a previous firmware and it worked! I came to the forums, and low and behold the folks in this thread found the same problem. Will Netgear fix this?

Please..pretty please...
I even got new RAM and installed it... but I can't afford the time to deal with a failed upgrade right now...

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
I've had a similar problem reported here: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=69935
Sounds like my options are to do a factory reset and go from there?

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
If you aren't running the stock RAM you might need to downgrade (4.1.8 or 4.1.9).

What are the steps to downgrading to 4.1.8 from 4.1.10? I'm assuming you can do this without losing your data, just a firmware downgrade right?
Also, those that are just pulling a drive and it comes up, do you reseat your drive and it resyncs and everything is normal again?

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
I did not lose any data when I did the downgrade. Here's the link for 4.1.8:

Here are teh instructions I used (but, I substituted use of the 4.1.8 firmware):

Great, thanks for this help. Does anyone know if 4.1.11 or the next whatever update, will fix this issue, or is this done on purpose?
I can't imagine they'd want us to not have 1GB of memory, on purpose.

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
Frankly I'm surprised they left the problem unattended thru two releases already. NG overseas support was absolutely NO help to me. I was down for days until a kind poster pointed me in the right direction.

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
I also run a Netgear UTM 5 on my network, and those devices have also seen a complete halt in their software development over the last year (with some serious bugs left unpatched for years now). Netgear seems to have decided to abandon even the appearance of product improvement and product support.
A few months ago I migrated from a 6 year old ReadyNA NV to a Pro6, and I had a senior technical support lead at Netgear tell me that there was no way that I, as the administrator, could migrate user home share data between the boxes. He was insistent that the only way to migrate that data was for each user to manually copy over their own data. As I suspected, this turned out to be nonsense; but, Netgear was of no help solving the problem.
Netgear's deminse is very sad...

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
This ReadyNAS NV+ has been fairly solid for me, but all my co-workers have recently moved away from Netgear and over to Synology. Maybe its my turn?

Does downgrading to 4.1.8 make you lose all your shares, do they have to be recreated?

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
Downgrading is not supposed to cuase the loss of any configuration information or data. I did not experience any loss when I downgraded. That said, I can't make any guarantees.

Re: NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
Note: I did not do a factory reset. This is simply a firmware downgrade.
